New App for Making it In America
The “New App for Making It in America” project aims to create an industry-wide training and career system that (a) meets the skill needs of new manufacturing startups (including spin-offs from universities), accelerating Pennsylvania rates of innovation and job growth in new manufacturing markets; and (b) enhances the earnings, skill levels, skill portability, and industry-wide employment security of workers in manufacturing production occupations. The project will embed these workforce components within a broader support system that also addresses non-workforce needs of start-ups and increases manufacturing of new products in America.

The Institute for Work and the Economy is part of the external evaluation team for the project. The evaluation team is led by the Center for Urban Economic Development at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
